A Little Bit Of Background
Australia's First Keyhole Implant Dentistry Case Was Carried Out In 2003
.... and it was carried out in our clinic by Dr. Joseph Shohmelian. Since then, we have helped hundreds of patients with the replacement of their missing teeth using a non-surgical keyhole method.
Prior to that first patient, Dr. Shohmelian had 20 years of experience in many, other implant techniques, all of which required surgical opening of the gums, drilling of channels in the jawbones to accommodate the different desings of implants before stiching the gums back together again.
Undertandably, there was considerable swelling, bruising and post-operative pain associated with conventional surgical implants.
Fortunately, that is history now as the keyhole method we have pioneered since 2003 has consistently resulted in our patients reporting very little if any post-operative pain, and definitley no sweliing or bruising.
Commencing 2011, Dr. Joseph Shohmelian started conducting seminars to train dentists in this conservative and less complex implant technique. The image to the right displays some of those dentists receiving membership certificates to the Australasian Society For Conservative Implant Dentistry which was founded by Dr. Shohmelian for the advancement of Keyhole Implant Dentistry to help patients who needed replacement of their missing teeth but were unable, unsuitable or fearful about proceeding with conventional implant surgery.
